  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the flour, stirring constantly to create a roux, and cook for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk and heavy cream, ensuring no lumps remain.
  • Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens.
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir in the shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
  • Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni, mixing well.
  • If desired, pour into a greased baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
