- 12 ounces fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- Zest of 1 orange
- Juice of 1 orange
- Pinch of salt
Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems.
In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Add the cranberries to the boiling syrup.
Cook until the cranberries start to pop, about 10 minutes.
Stir in the orange zest and juice.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool.
Transfer the sauce to a bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
