Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any stems.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  • Add the cranberries to the boiling syrup.
  • Cook until the cranberries start to pop, about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the orange zest and juice.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool.
  • Transfer the sauce to a bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
