Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cans 14 oz each crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar optional
  • Parmesan cheese for serving optional

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and mix well.
  • Add oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low.
  • Let the sauce cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • If using, stir in balsamic vinegar for extra depth of flavor.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Serve hot over cooked spaghetti, garnished with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
