Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf of challah or brioche bread cubed
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces and place them evenly in the dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) the next morning.
  • Bake the casserole uncovered for 40-45 minutes until golden brown on top.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm, drizzled with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar.
